EXPLORE THE KINETICS THAT UNDERPIN JUMPING PERFORMANCE
Are you ready to take flight? In Takeoff: A Visual Guide to Training and Monitoring Lower Body Power, we use phases of the countermovement jump as a framework to better design and monitor the training process. At its core, the force-time relationship underpins physical preparation. Within this text, we provide vivid visualizations and clear explanations of the science behind many popular training methods. Whether you're an athlete, coach, or fitness enthusiast, Takeoff will give you the tools you need to soar to new heights in sports performance.
“The genius of this book is the ability to simplify the complex into digestible, entertaining bite sizes. I bought one of each of my staff and we meet as a team to go through chapters. It's a must read for coaches understanding force plates & applicable interventions to make changes for athletes.”

BOOK OVERVIEW
Within this text, we will dive into the basic kinetics that govern jump performance. By doing this, we set the foundation to begin exploring desired adaptations to training. With this approach, we can begin to isolate specific Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that are the limiting factor for optimal performance. By identifying these KPIs we can make relevant training goals and prescriptions. You do not need access to a force plate to take advantage of the insights presented in this book. Takeoff provides a framework for coaches to view braking, propulsion, and overall power production.
After receiving a B.S. in Kinesiology from Penn State University and an M.S. in Exercise Science from University of South Florida, Daniel began his career as an NBA physical preparation coach. After spending several seasons with the Atlanta Hawks and Phoenix Suns, Daniel is now the Director of Performance and Sports Science for the New Orleans Pelicans.
One of Daniel's passions is simplifying complex topics in a way that helps fellow coaches and performance practitioners in their professional environment.
A training philosophy sets the foundation for any fitness or athletic development plan. However, in an age where information is plentiful we often lose out on quality, contextual understanding, and an ability to filter noise. The goal of Athlete Framework is to combine the art and science of athletic performance in the pursuit of providing comprehensive training solutions for industry professionals. We aim to simplify complex ideas that can be readily applied in any environment.
